Loving God . . . Loving People . . . Loving Life!

Youth Ministry

Empowering Youth - One of Our Seven Core Values

"We believe each child and young person is a gift from God and a leader of tomorrow.  We will empower them as disciples of Christ, helping them to know God’s Word, root their identity in Christ, serve God actively, and develop a passion for Christ and His global purposes. We encourage our youth to dream great dreams, changing their generation for God."  (Deuteronomy 6:4-8, Psalm 78:1-8, 1 Timothy 4:12)

The Youth Ministry of HCF exists to help teenagers experience the awesomeness of the Living God and be who he designed them to be, develop and grow in relationships with Christian peers and adults, and see themselves as crucial, active parts of God’s family.  A core value of HCF is to empower youth. We desire that Hope be a place where young people of the San Gabriel Valley can feel safe, comfortable, and welcome and have the opportunity to grow in relationship with Jesus and with other students.

On Saturday nights (7-9:30pm), Jr. and Sr. high students meet together in a large group (a.k.a. F.I.R.E.) to learn more about Jesus and His love, passion, and purpose.  During large groups we meet downstairs for games, worship, relevant Biblical teaching, discussion, and prayer - a place to be real, talk through your issues, and ask questions about faith and Christianity.

Discipleship small groups (a.k.a.D-Groups) provide an environment of acceptance, belonging, accountability, and community.  Students will meet in homes, coffee shops or where ever your group wants to meet. D-Groups are all about growth in the context of a loving community - groups of about 5-10 students with 1-2 adult mentors - guys with guys, girls with girls. If you are interested in a D-Group, just contact Mike Gabelman for the latest information at mikeg@hopechristianfellowship.net or 626-863-3009 (cell) or 626-287-9997 (church).

Team Levi:  What is Team Levi?  Well in the Old Testament, God set aside one of the 12 tribes of Israel to not own or work the land.  Rather, the Lord was to be their portion and their role was to serve in the Temple by helping the other tribes come and worship the Living God!  This tribe was the Levites.  They stood between God and the people.  They were the priests.  Since the death, burial, resurrection, and ascension of Christ, our hearts have now become the literal temples where we die daily and  worship this same Living God!  However each week, six different age groups in the youth group rotate and take turns serving the larger youth group for that night.  This provides one way for teens to discover and grow in their spiritual gifts as they build up the body of Christ.  Essentially, if you enjoy games, then please serve by organizing some games for us.  If you enjoy hosting and greeting, then please serve in that way.  If you want to share about what God is doing in your life, then please encourage us with that!  With glad and sincere hearts, let’s serve Christ by serving one another!  Each week, the teens will take ownership and responsibility of our awesome youth group by serving in the following areas:  Set up signs and snacks, prayer, greeting, games, testimony, announcements, and clean up.  Want to be great in God’s kingdom?  The path of greatness is the path of servant hood.   (John 13:1-17, Rom 12:7, Gal 5:13, Eph 6:7, 1 Pet 4:10, Matt 20:25-28, Luke 13:22-30)
